The Cycles We Break by Naming Them
Heres the truth—sometimes the smartest thing you can do is call a thing what it is. That’s why I didn’t dress this book title up in fancy words. I called it Stupid Is As Stupid Does because cycles don’t break until you face them head-on.
We’ve all been there. Saying yes when we mean no. Staying when we should’ve walked away. Pretending something doesn’t hurt when it’s ripping us apart inside. Those choices? They don’t make us weak—they make us human. But repeating them without reflection? That’s where “stupid” creeps in.
Naming the Pattern
There’s power in saying: This is unhealthy. This is not love. This is not me at my best. When we name the pattern, we strip it of its power. It stops being a shadow lurking in our lives and becomes something we can see, question, and eventually walk away from.
Proverbs 14:1 says, “The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down.” Wisdom isn’t about perfection—it’s about learning which bricks to keep and which ones to toss out.

Why It Matters
Calling something stupid isn’t about shame. It’s about truth. Truth is the soil where wisdom grows. And wisdom? That’s the only thing strong enough to rebuild us.
Stupid Is As Stupid Does is more than a book title—it’s a reminder. A reminder that growth starts when you’re brave enough to call a cycle out loud, laugh at it if you need to, and then choose differently.
Because the opposite of stupid isn’t perfection. It’s wisdom. And wisdom is always within reach.
